Hello! Hi! How are you! I come to you on day 15 of our social-distancing season with spirits that are a bit low, but I’m trying to stay positive. What a time we are living in right now. I think the hardest part for me is the not knowing when it’s all going to end, so I am forcing myself to lean into the process. Days are longer than usual in my house and I’m constantly trying to find ways to fill the time my toddler and I would normally be at the park or library or on a playdate. There’s lots of marker marks on the floor and dried lentils in the couch (I just said that sentence out loud, oh my gosh, life is wild.)
Anyways, I wanted to share a few things you can do to help small businesses during this uncertain time. If you love any photographers, artists, boutique shops or any type of small business, here are some simple ways to show them some love and support their dreams.
- Most importantly, follow them on social media! And help them beat the algorithms by liking their posts!
- Comment on a recent Instagram or Facebook post. It doesn’t have to be a long comment, a simple “hi from *insert state here*” or “love your work” is great!
- Book something with them (photo session, guitar lesson, ect) later in the year! This will help with expenses now, and also give the biz owner an encouragement boost.
- Share their work! If you see a photo or a painting or a product you love, share it to your FB page or your InstaStories. This will help get more eyes on their business and which could turn into a sale later this year.
- If you’ve used their services or purchased from them in the past, write a review on Google or Yelp or Facebook.
- Along the same lines, post about your experience on socials, and tag their account!
These are some simple ways to help the small businesses you love! Thank you so much for taking the time to do these things for me, and for all your faves! YOUDABEST. And remember: don’t eat all your quarantine snacks in one day 😉
