Exploring Santa Fe | Geometry

If you know me you know the following photos are a little out of my comfort zone. I am used to and good at photographing people, so when there aren’t people around, I don’t really know what to do. Maybe that’s why I’m at a photo workshop, to get better at the artsy stuff.

Yesterday, my class and I were walking around the Santa Fe College of Art and Design, and at first glance, the buildings seemed a little lackluster. Flat, monochrome, washed out in the sun. But the closer I looked, the more geometry I kept seeing. The shadows from the walls, against the other walls, made perfect triangles. The different colored walls together was such a great color palette – light purples, reds, yellows, pinks. Love!

Once I realized I could use the sky as an additional part of the composition, I had a field day. Seriously, I spent about an hour and a half wandering this campus, looking up at the shadows and colors and trying to make perfectly geometric photos. GUYS THIS WAS SO FUN. Ok here they are.
