This WKLY post is going up a little later than my usual 10am because I needed to wait for some SNOW! See those pictures at the end of the post. First up, story time.

On Saturday, Nate and I drove up to NH to visit my Grandpa. He had asked me to come take photos of the home he and my Grandma lived in for around 15 years. I spent two-ish hours photographing the rooms and all the memories displayed in them. At first I was kind of on my own, but when I started seeing trinkets and photos that I didn’t recognize, I asked Gramps to follow me around and share the stories of them. Here’s a few stories from the first photo: The large black and white portrait to the right is the only picture from my great-grandparents’ wedding that my Grandpa has. They were married on January 31, 1920. The little white dog statue was something my Grandpa’s mother collected in the 30s. Those two small black & gold containers were a birthday present in his teens, his first set of aftershave and ‘face talc powder’. The half-hidden house (behind the wedding photos) is 182 Mosley in Syracuse, NY, where my Grandpa grew up. I also learned that my great-great-grandmother’s name was Asenath (uh-SEE-nith). Family history, yo. It blows your mind!

BTW, I’m not sure who the gorgeous painting is done by, but a lot of the art around the house was done by my Grandma’s dad. Nate and I actually have one of his paintings hanging in our apartment! But, like I said, I am not sure about the painting in this photo, I wish I had asked because I love it!

I was sneaky with this quick portrait of Grandpa. Also, the photo on the right is my Gram (on the left) and her sister Retie playing with their pet bird! This is by far my most favorite photo ever. Something about it makes me so happy. And I want to write a children’s book based on it. Like, I am that serious.
After I finished photographing the house, we just hung out for the rest of the day, playing boardgames and going out to dinner!

Tia + Malik proving just how hard boardgames are 😉

SNOW TIME! The snow today has been crazy. I was only out for 30 minutes in it before I couldn’t feel my face. :O

It’s supposed to snow 12 inches total, so maybe I’ll go out again later and take some more pictures.

[…] All that aside, it was a solid week. My aunt, uncle and Grandpa came for a quick visit on Sunday. They came to church with us, and then we had brunch together at one of our favorite brunch spots, Fresco in Needham.  I love this picture of me and my Gramps! My aunt and uncle looking through a photo album of photos I took of my Grandpa’s home.  […]
