Cherishing Your Photos | Wellesley Wedding Photography

March 13, 2014

(If you’re on the SRP email list this might look familiar to you. If you aren’t sign up here. Hint hint.)

I am a huge advocate for making sure your photos are printed in real, physical, 3D form and not just in a folder on your computer (or Facebook)! You want to be able to share your life with your kids, friends, and with family who will come long after you are gone. One of my favorite things to do is dig through all the old family photos at my grandparent’s house and admire and ask about the stories in them. Here are a few ways to guarantee YOUR grandkids (or grand-best-friends-kids) will have fun doing the same.

Family Albums

Ever since Nate and I got married, I’ve been pretty consistent with getting albums printed with pictures from our adventures. I use Mpix.com for our family albums because they have a lot of options for cover styles and colors, and I like to switch it up every time. They also ship in a week, which is pretty impressive.

Artifact Uprising is a super cool app where you can upload your photos right from your phone to make an album. I haven’t personally used this company, but from what I’ve seen and heard, their albums are well made, well designed and have a modern feel to them. I’m going to try them out this year!

There are a lot of other options out there as well, like Blurb.com (for you designer-y peeps who want to design your own layouts), and Prinstagram (for all your favorite Instagram pics.)

Disposable Cameras

Don’t underestimate the little disposable cam! I recently carried one around in my purse and I loved having another option with me besides my phone. The film quality makes your pictures look a little “old school” and the greatest part is that you have to get them developed into physical prints to see them! Oh yeah, and you can still take selfies (Hi Mom!) 🙂

Printing with PASS

If I’ve taken your photograph sometime in the last 8 months, this setup looks familiar to you. For each session and wedding, I deliver my client’s images through a fancy, personalized PASS gallery. All the photos are easily downloadable, and there is also an option to have professional, high quality prints made. And they ship right to your house! It’s probably the easiest way to get your photos printed ever!

Share + Display

Once you’ve made it past the “getting your photos printed” stage, why not display them in your home! I stopped in at the Christmas Tree shops a few weeks ago and was really surprised to find a great collection of picture frames. They were actually cute (!), so I bought a few. Michael’s and Target also have pretty good selections. If you’re looking for a more eclectic feel, you might have to dig through some tag sales and thrift shops, which is totally fun, and you should invite me. 🙂

I hope this has inspired you to make your pictures REAL! Just do it, friends! Your future everyones will love you for it.

I couldn’t agree more with you about the importance of getting photos printed! Especially in today’s time where everything is captured with an iphone, enjoyed, and then forgotten. I printed my first photo book a few months ago (on our vacation to Wyoming in ’12) but I plan to do another for the whole year of 2013, then hopefully work my way backwards. 🙂
