“Time Flies” + New Things + One Year

August 19, 2013

This summer has been QUITE the whirlwind. I can’t believe it’s already late-August! I’m really learning the meaning of the phrase “time flies” and I’m not sure I like it. Nate and I have had something to do pretty much each weekend since the last weekend of May. Road races, graduations, birthdays, family trips, vacations, weddings and basically anything else you can think of! It’s definitely been exciting, but to be honest, I am ready for those lazy fall Sundays filled with Pumpkin Spice Lattes and leisurely walks around our cute little town.

Because of the last 2 months of crazyyyy, it feels like regular blog things like For Your Inspiration and Wednesday Words have been few and far between. I do plan to start these up again in September! September is the month of NEW THINGS. Our church is starting some new ministries that I’ll be helping with. I’ll be training for a new half marathon (eeek!) and I get to second shoot with some new industry friends! And then later in the fall I will be starting a new job adventure that I will share more about when it gets closer.

Another NEW thing that has recently happened is that I launched my print shop called Letters from Rita. It’s to share something I’ve loved for a very long time: doodling! If you’re in the market for a new piece of art for your office wall, head on over to LFR and see if anything catches your eye. 🙂

And more! Nate and I celebrated our one year anniversary last Monday, the 12th. It’s seriously hard to believe a year has already gone by (there’s the “times flies” thing again!). We’ve learned a lot about each other in this last year, probably more than during the two years we were dating. (For example: He likes “real meals”, while I could eat a bowl of peas for dinner and be satisfied. And also, I get reminded all the time to “squeeze the toothpaste tube from the bottom”. 🙂 ) We also traveled to a lot of great places in the last 12 months. Our honeymoon to Kauai still wins for ‘Best Vacation”, although our spontaneous Scotland adventure is close behind, along with our winter weekend getaway to Kennebunk, Maine last Christmas season.

Marriage is work, but it’s work that is worth it. Because if you’ve chosen to spend your life with the one person who makes your heart happy, and you’re doing life together, of COURSE it’s worth it! Here’s to many more years as us. ~S
