Getting your Kids Ready for our Photo Session!

Hey fam! I’ve put together a few very simple tips to help get your kiddos excited before our photo session.

Talk about it!

Tell them about our session as soon as you book it and get them excited! Tell them how fun it’s going to be and that you’re going to a new pretty place and get to explore. Maybe take them shopping for a new special outfit just for this photo shoot. This will get them looking forward to the special day when they can wear it.

Practice Smiling

Pick a funny code word (like, “potato” or “wiggle”!) for when you want your kids to smile. Practice at home saying the code word and seeing how big they can smile. This will help them remember what to do when the photo day comes! Just be sure to tell me what the code word is before we start the session 😉

Feed them beforehand

Make sure everyone gets a good snack or meal before the session. Feel free to bring snacks with you, as we can take snack breaks if needed!

What to bring

– Tissues, snacks, and a change of clothes, just in case.
– A favorite toy for the littlest ones. Being in front of the camera can be scary, so having a favorite toy in sight can help them relax. I like to let stuffed animals ‘help’ me take photos or try to balance them on my head, and that usually catches some fun smiles.

Grownups, remember this: The more fun YOU are having, the more fun the kids will have. They’ll feed off of your excitement. Bring your picture-taking A-Game and we’ll be all set!

Thanks for reading and hopefully this was helpful! =) If you want to book a family session, email me! hello[at]stephanieritaphoto.dot.com
