Nate and I, along with our friends Kay and Josh, explored Woodstock Vermont last weekend! We were in town because Kay, Josh and I were running the Covered Bridges half marathon (and Nate was our cheer-er-on-er). We all arrived on Friday evening and spent the whole day Saturday exploring the area.
We mostly walked, talked and looked. First we walked to the red covered bridge near our Airbnb and found a cute trail down to the river, which obviously we had to follow. It was such a beautiful day out!

Then we wandered around the adorable downtown of Woodstock, where we ate a delicious diner breakfast and found another covered bridge! We also had to stop at the flannel store, because Vermont. Duh 🙂

Later in the afternoon we ended up taking a two mile hike at Marsh-Billings National Park. It was a good day! I would definitely recommend going to Woodstock for a long weekend trip, it was really cute, cozy and outdoorsy!
I bet your great grandfather painted those covered bridges back in the 1970’s or so…He painted every covered bridge in VT and NH. Carrying on the tradition!! 🙂
Hey Tia! Did he really paint every one?! I have two hanging in our apartment, but I don’t think they of the ones we saw.
Well, that’s the story I remember that grandma told, but I also remember Mimi and Boo talking about their adventures doing this “covered bridge project.” Mimi used to go down to the water under the bridges to get a container of water that Boo used – most of the bridges were water-paintings.
Ask your dad what he remembers about this story!
Love you!
Beautiful photos! 🙂 I love covered bridges!
Thanks! And me too! 🙂
