That’s the saying, right? 😉
My birthday was on June 1st, and to be honest, it wasn’t super fun. It didn’t really feel good to celebrate, not with the ongoing COVID stuff and the rise of awareness of injustices happening to Black people in America. I donated to Black Lives Matter movement. I asked other people to donate. And thennnn… I kind of moped. For like, most of the day.
As much as I didn’t want to celebrate, and as much as we couldn’t really do anything, Nate still managed to make it memorable in a good way. He surprised me with a gorgeous flower bouquet from Twig & Briar, he hung huge balloons that spelled “Happy Birthday”, and we had a bubble dance party in the kitchen – which Julien enjoyed 100% the most and it was so fun to watch him have so much fun.
It feels hard to celebrate the good things this year. But we still should. We need the good things to keep up going as we endure and fight the bad things. <3 <3
