Our Tiny Julien

October 26, 2018

I write this as my one month old rainbow baby boy sleeps next to me. Nate and I welcomed our sweet son, Julien David, into the world on September 26th at 5am. He is peaceful, squirmy, sleepy, loud, cute, pensive, and wiggly. We are so in love with this little sidekick of ours!

We won’t be sharing many more than these photos of Julien online. We’ve decided to keep photos of his full face to a minimum on the internet – for safety reasons, and to respect Julien’s privacy. We’ll share the super occasional family picture or milestone photo, but that’s pretty much it. So soak this tiny, cute face up now! ๐Ÿ˜‰

He’s so special to us!ย

These first 4 weeks of parenthood have been sleepy, messy, adorable, challenging, enlightening, loving and loooong. I’ve never cried more in my life. I’ve never loved Nate more in my life. I’ve never wanted to take a 24 hour nap more in my life. I’ve never used the words “toesies” and “poopy” more in my life. I’ve never sat on the couch more in my life – no, seriously, sitting on my couch feeding my kid is legit all I do. It sounds so cliche, but parenthood is definitely feels like the adventure of a lifetime. Julien is such a blessing and we will love him and hang out with him and force our various music tastes on him for the rest of his life ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wanted to share a few favorite things that have helped us a lot during these first few weeks of parenthood. I’m obviously not an expert, but want to share the little info that I do know ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully these will be helpful to any parents-to-be out there! (I probably don’t need to say this, but I’m not getting paid to share about these things, ha)

Dock-a-tot or Snuggle Nest –ย Either of these work as a cozy place to lay baby when your arms get tired. Julien also naps in the Dock-a-tot on the couch during the day! That way I can sit here and blog with two hands ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

SwaddleMe velcro swaddles – Julien LOVES his hands, and busts out of even the tightest of non-velcro swaddles, so these have been ideal!ย

Keekaroo Changing pad – Kinda pricey, but super worth it. It’s rubber, which makes it so easy to clean, which is especially helpful if you have a boy who projectile pees over the entire changing table on a regular basis.

These Nursing Tanks – They are long and stretchy and quick to maneuver when baby is screaming at you for food.

Baby Tracker app (green with white stroller icon) – There are a few apps called Baby Tracker, but this one is the BEST. It’s so easy/quick to use and has a simple interface. I use it pretty exclusively to keep track of when/how long Julien eats, but it also logs pumping, sleeping, ect. I’d legit be lost without it.

YAY PARENTHOOD.ย
