I think most of us agree that this year was… questionable. Each for all different reasons, that’s for sure. And for a long time I was caught up in the not great stuff, and I forgot about the really cool stuff that happened. So here is me taking a minute to remember the really good things about 2016. The power of positive thinking AMIRITE.
Nate and I took an epic trip to Italy – Cinque Terre, Florence & Sorrento were my fave cities.
Pasta, gelato, seafood & wine were the true winners of our Italy trip.
I photographed my brother-in-law’s wedding in Italy, so basically, life goal accomplished.
I finally went back to my favorite place, Barcelona, and legit cried of happiness.
Nate was a fan of the architecture and the sangria, that’s really all I can ask for.
Both of Nate’s sibs got married in the spring!
I ran my 3rd half marathon in a cute Vermont town, with some fave friends!
I turned 27 and Nate surprised me with Blue Man Group tickets.
Nate turned 27 a month later and I surprised him with dinner in the North End.
My lettering artwork hung in the local coffee shop for 2 months.
We went hiking a lot more, and even hiked a ‘big’ one in the White Mountains (Mount Israel).
We also kept up our summer love of kayaking.
The year of reunions – High school girlfriends. College friends + roomies. Summer camp besties (& their babies).
I had a chance to sell my lettering work at the local summer Farmer’s Market.
We spent Father’s Day and July 4th at the beach with my parents.
UM Katie Ledecky completely sweeping the Olympics.
UM Stranger Things.
UM the Gilmore Girls Revival.
We celebrated 4 years of marriage!
I was a vegetarian for almost 2 months. (I’m back to mostly normal, but still no red meat.)
We visited DC again, which is our ‘favorite city that isn’t the city we live in’.
UM Nate got instagram.
The church plant we are part of had it’s first official service early in the fall.
And we’re seeing God continually grow it each week.
I was lucky to experience a LOT of my favorite bands perform live and it was legit.
I went to most of these concerts with my friends, which was also legit.
Yes, 2016 produced lots of good music.
I photographed many wonderful weddings & families.
And had the opportunity to second shoot for many wonderful photographers/friends.
I really embraced the ‘experiences over things’ mentality.
This resulted in downsizing a lot of our stuff, making our house a lot cleaner.
I started my 4th season of being a swim coach to the sweetest/funniest 8-13 year olds on earth.
More kayaking and trail walks/hikes.
We voted.
I started filming a little bit of our life, learned to (roughly) edit videos, and started a YouTube channel.
We went to California right before Christmas to see my family out there, and also to explore a bit.
UM Christmas.
I didn’t read many, but Yes Please, Wild & The Boston Girl were my fave books of the year.
SEE. So many good things.
Thankful that this year happened.
Thankful for the friends and family it happened with.
BUT AMEN TO 2017.
