I’ve never been one for personal photo projects. Personal PHOTOS, yes. Personal photo projects, like a series or a theme, no. But alas, in 2013, I found myself with three photos that were very similar, and from then on, I decided it was a photo project. The idea wasn’t mind-blowing. All I was doing was photographing chandeliers from the bottom up. In all of these photos I get right underneath the chandelier and shoot from as close to exactly below as I can. And centered, always centered (except one).
Since 2013 I’ve photographed over 20 chandeliers in all different styles and places. From the Capitol Building to a ski lodge (see below) to wineries to various wedding venues. It’s fun to go on a chandelier hunt when I’m in a place that will probably have one!
I only “count” the ones I’ve photographed with my “real camera” as part of the project, but I do even have a few shot with my iPhone that I still really like. I suppose I could count those, but the quality isn’t as good! I’m only sharing 3 here today, but someday, when I decide this project is done, I’ll share the whole collection!
Above is from Sunday River ski resort in Maine.
Above is from the Hawthorne Country Club in Massachusetts. (This is the only non-centered one in the collection. It was right above a table that I couldn’t move, so I had to eyeball it the best I could.)
Above is from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
I’ll be sharing more… eventually! 🙂
