When your friends get married near one of the most adventurous spots in our country, it only makes sense to take a couple days to explore it! Truth is, I have only amazing things to say about Acadia National Park. I felt very at home and energized there. God’s creation is SOMETHING ELSE and I wish we could have stayed longer! This trip inspired Nate and I to be weekend hikers/campers/outdoors people, so stay tuned for that haha.
Anyways, here are a couple of my favorite photos from our trip! The first thing we did was drive the Park Loop Road and stop off at all notable spots. Ok, the FIRST FIRST thing we did was eat lunch at Stewman’s Lobster Pound in Bar Harbor.
We explored Sand Beach for a while and than found some really great views of it. I didn’t really want to leave this spot.
Sidenote: The weather was perfect. High 60s to mid 70s all week, with only one day of rain. It really couldn’t have been better. Even though it was late May, Maine still felt a little like spring!
Echo Cove. We stopped because it was low tide and that bridge looked way too cool just to drive by.
We heard Thunder Hole was sweet, so we hung out nearby for a while hoping to catch a glimpse. But in the end, we never ended up seeing Thunder Hole thunder. Still a great spot, though!
Sunset atop Cadillac Mountain (we drove up instead of hiking). It was so windy! And there were so many selfie sticks! Ah!
These colors blew my mind.
We spent a full day biking on the Carriage Roads towards Jordan Pond House (where we ate lunch). We only got lost twice… but both times we realized it, it was conveniently juuuuust after we’d gone down a big hill. :O Needless to say that was a lonnngggg bike ride. Word to the wise, the Carriage Road trail signs aren’t the most accurate.
The next day we visited the smallest little lighthouse I’ve ever seen. On the side of a cliff! We had to go down a really steep staircase to get down to the rocks to even see the lighthouse!
I haven’t mentioned it much, but we did spend a fair amount of time is Bar Harbor. We really liked this ice cream place, right in downtown Bar Harbor. Our one “fancy dinner” was eaten here and it was delicious!
During low tide you can walk across a bar to an island! Nate mostly liked skipping rocks.
One morning we hiked the Bubbles. He could totally pull off the hiker look, yes?
The views though… This is why I want to take up hiking. Touching the sky feels pretty awesome.
I have to mention that it was our first time using AirBnB and we couldn’t have had a better first experience. We stayed at the Cordovan Cabin, which was about 4 miles from the park entrance. The owner left us fresh eggs from her farm, and the cabin had just the amount of rustic charm. If you’re ever in Acadia, stay here!
I want to go back asap!
