“I found the heart of my best friend
It’s the kind of love that understands
He said it changed his life to be my man
So he bought a ring and took my hand”

Tanya and Kevin are marriiiied! These two have been together since high school, where they met and worked together at the school’s TV station. My husband Nate has been friends with them since then, and through him, T+K have become really good friends of mine as well! We were lucky to be part of their two-day wedding celebration, me as the photographer and Nate as the best man. All the fun started on Saturday with a mehndi celebration and continuing Sunday with their wedding, both at the John Peters Estate in Blue Hill, Maine.
Tanya is energetic, *wicked* smart and encouraging. Kevin is laid-back, creative and hard-working. They make an awesome couple who love each other very much, and after 9 years of togetherness, you can bet they understand each other really well. They love to laugh and are quite the adventurous duo. Pretty much what I’m trying to say is, I like you guys! 😉 <3
First up are a couple shots from Saturday’s Mehndi Celebration. It was a beautiful evening full of traditional Indian dress, food and music! Everything was so colorful and everyone was SO HAPPY!
Tanya was carried down the pathway on a decorated chair by her cousins and brother!
Mommas<3
Kevin’s brothers and family members danced around him as he made his way to where Tanya was sitting!
We stole away for a bit to take some evening photos in their traditional Indian dress!
Tanya had her amazing henna done by Henna by Heather. (And a week later she ended up getting part of her wedding day henna tattooed forever! Love that!)
ONTO SUNDAY! The big, beautiful, family-filled wedding celebration! This was our view. Does it get better??
One thing I loved the most about T+K’s wedding was that as much as it was about them, it was even more about their families. So many people were coming together from all over the world. Cousins from Germany and England, grandparents from India and family from all over the USA. It was a blend of cultures and traditions and it was so amazing to be a part of!
This was when Tanya’s girls saw her in her dress for the first time! I love bridesmaid first looks!
It was quite a team effort to get everyone into their custom made saris (from India!). I love all the sparkles and gold!
My second shooter Ashley was with the guys all morning and got these next few shots!
Seems to me that figuring out bow ties was a team effort as well 😉
At this moment, Tanya was looking out the window at the ceremony set-up in the lawn. She knew Kevin was supposed to be arriving soon. When he did, she all of a sudden found her self getting really emotional as she watched him walk across the grass and down the hill to their First Look spot!
The hill I mentioned.. 🙂
THIS MOMENT.
T+K decided to sign their marriage license before their actual ceremony, in an intimate setting with only their witnesses (and their documentation team 😉 ) in attendance. It was a simple, sweet few minutes of day and when it was over, they were married!
We met up with the bridal party and all decided that life-size Jenga is always a good idea.
T+K officially have the largest bridal party I’ve ever photographed! 8 friends on each side! These guys are celeb status right now.
The gals were all so beautiful in their sparkly jewel tone saris!
Then it was ceremony time! The wind was seriously crazy, but we all rolled with it. Tanya was walked down the isle by both her mom and dad, and Kevin waited at the end, looking all in love and stuff. 😉 Tanya’s cousin officiated their ceremony!
Um, FAVE.
Then it was time for portraits of the newlyweds! I love this part of the wedding day.
T+K readily agreed to wander down to the rocky beach and waterfront when the videographer, Dave, and I suggested it. These next couple photos seem so peaceful and in-the-moment to me! Just enjoying each other and the perfect view.
Then the reception began with an adorable first dance (to I’ll Be, the first song they danced to at their prom. CUE AWWWS) followed by parent dances which always make me cry!
They’re just cute, ok?
I can’t accurately explain just how energetic this dance floor was. The band, Rare Form, was amazing. Like, I’ve been to A LOT of weddings, and they were by far one of my favorite bands to listen to! Evidence:
I think this was “You are… my fiiiiiire, my one desiiiire.” or maybe it was “Ain’t no lie, baby bye, bye, bye.” I can’t remember. 😉
And then Blue Hill, Maine sent them a wedding present….
Tanya and Kevin, congrats times a million! Thank you for your friendship!

Oh my goodness! Everything about their wedding was absolutely gorgeous and eye catching and wonderful! They look like they had so much fun, embracing tradition and celebrating their lives together in new ways. Like the tattoo wedding henna! Oh my! It was very beautiful.
