“Give me something fun to do
like a life of loving you.
Kiss me quick now baby,
I’m still crazy over you.”

This is one of those wedding blog posts that I’ve been sitting in front of for what seems like days, trying to figure out which words should compliment these photos. Rebecca and Chris are so in love, compassionate, fun, laid back and creative. They’re the kind of people who, before their (sunrise) engagement session last summer, invited me into their home and had a hot cup of coffee waiting! The kind of couple who scheduled on their timeline “6:30am – Rebecca and Chris go on a run together”. The kind who made sure each person at their wedding felt welcome and comfortable and loved. They work so well (and laugh so much!) when they are together.
Their wedding day was one I had been waiting for since the day we “made it official”. It was a perfect reflection of them, and their closest friends and family were there to help celebrate! R+C picked the Overbrook House on the Cape for the location of their fun, getaway, wedding weekend, and the weather surprised us with not a cloud in the sky!
Sydney from SLR Makeup worked her magic on Rebecca and the result was gorgeous. While Becca was getting pampered, her girls were making sure the morning playlist was bumpin’ (90s music, ya’ll!), showing me around the grounds, and helping me style the flower photos.
Rebecca’s best friend and maid of honor Kate made these bouquets! Crazy talented! She mentioned that each bridesmaid had picked a different type of succulent that they loved, resulting in 5 seemingly-similar-yet-actually-different bouquets.
Rebecca’s classic lace Ann Taylor gown and turquoise Badgley Mischka heels were a great match for each other.
Story time! Wait, am I allowed to I tell this story? I’m going to tell this story, I just won’t say names. While we were outside taking this photo, one of the girls noticed that another girl had something in her hair. She went to wipe it away and it was…. bird poop! It was terrifying and hilarious at the same time, but Sydney the hair magician came to the rescue!
Kate helped Rebecca put on her gown while the rest of the girls waited down the stairs for a ” bridesmaids first look”. These two girls… they are besties and practically sisters, and everything Kate said made Rebecca laugh! It was lovely to witness.
All morning the girls were trying not to cry. If they thought too hard about Becca getting married, the happy tears would try to make an appearance. So they just didn’t think about it too much… Until this moment, when R walked down the stairs dressed in her gorgeous gown. Permission to cry, ladies!
Meanwhile… Chris and his brothers, dad, and childhood best friend were kickin’ it on the other side of the property, enjoying the perfect weather!
R+C wanted to see each other before the ceremony, to spend some quiet moments together before the party started. It couldn’t have been more adorable. First Looks are always a good idea, and are always my favorite part of the day.
I loved the hand written signs and turquoise details.
As the ceremony began, you could tell just how excited everyone was for these two to be married!
It was a family-filled ceremony: Chris’s Grandpa married the pair, and each of their mom’s read a sweet poem or proverb. Then R+C read their teary-eyed vows to each other, but of course a bunch of laughs were mixed in.
OFFICIAL! One of my favorites of the day.
Bubbles, snacks, beers and lawn games took over the front yard. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves!
We stole away for some nature-y portraits! It’s one thing to do a First Look and take photos before your ceremony… but those post-ceremony “we’re-finally-married!” portraits are the sweetest and best and most special. R+C brought it to the next level.
This venue and all of it’s outdoor, rustic components made it hard for me to know where to begin taking photos! Stone steps and bridges, a tree-lined pathway decorated with little white lights… it was all too good!
Caitlin, of DIY Wedding Mentor, did a wonderful job making sure the reception space looked amazing and that the events of the day moved smoothly! Time for another story … When I first arrived to the Overbrook House, Caitlin introduced herself and I stopped in my tracks. She looked SO familiar, but I couldn’t place where I knew her from. I stared at her for a good ten seconds (she probably thought I was crazy) … but then I figured it out! I was at Caitlin’s wedding! Assisting one of my photographer friends! So small world-y, right? We laughed about that the whole day.
Anyways, onto the adorable details 🙂
Rebecca made these chocolate peanut butter and cinnamon cupcakes herself! My gear was right next to the table, so I was smelling their deliciousness all day. And I happily indulged on one during my drive home.
See the tent over there? Under that tent was where Dinner & Company prepared an incredibly delicious barbecue dinner for all the guests! I mean, it. was. good.
First dance! Perfect 10 on that twirl, you guys!
I learned a lot while listening to the sweet, funny and encouraging toasts. Mostly about how incredibly loved Rebecca and Chris are by their friends and family, and just how much they reciprocate that love. Loyal and dedicated were two words that were used over and over again to describe their personalities. I may have cried.
We snuck outside to catch just a few more portraits with the twinkling lights…
Which quickly turned into an outdoor dance party when Chris heard Michael Jackson blasting from the reception hall. 🙂
And the rest of the night looked a little like this! Please note that the majority of their playlist was comprised of classic 90s boy/girl bands and the majority of the time I was singing as loud as I could, because obviously we ALL still know ALL the lyrics to BSB’s “As Long as You Love Me.” Duh.
R+C, your wedding was golden. perfect. amazing. I can’t thank you enough for trusting me with the documentation of your day. (thank you thank you!) I hope you enjoyed this little preview of your photos. Happy First Week of Marriage! 🙂
