This is Part 1 of 2 blog posts of Kim + Thor’s wedding!
Kim + Thor were the winners of the SRP brand launch contest back in March! I had this Kentucky destination wedding on my calendar for months and was so excited to meet K+T in person! We had exchanged so many emails and a few calls, so you can imagine it was awesome to finally be with them on their special weekend!
The whole weekend was relaxed and family-focused. Seriously, I felt like part of their family! We all stayed in a big, rustic lodge… and by lodge, I mean it was more like a log cabin mansion. Kim and Thor’s main goal was to spend quality time with their family members, but they also did a really great job of making sure everyone was enjoying themselves on this little getaway weekend! Friday night we stocked up on food and drinks at the closest grocery store (30 minutes away :)) and snuggled in for a night of Miguel’s Pizza and Despicable Me. Saturday we all rode a ski lift to the top ofย Red River Gorgeย and got to explore the famous Natural Bridge. Amazing views would be an understatement! We were on top of the world.
Sunday was the day of the wedding! Or “just a regular day” as Kim kept saying, so she wouldn’t get too nervous. ๐ The day started with a homemade pancake and egg breakfast whipped up by Thor (chocolate chip pancakes no less!) and Kim and her girls decorating the lodge with green and white balloons. We all had a chance to write/doodle/draw in a special keepsake scrapbook one of Kim’s best friends brought along. Such a special idea! And I spent some time with their flowers, rings and other details.
You guys. These cute pompom flowers (as I so scientifically called them) came from the grocery store. NO JOKE. How cute, right?! Kim arranged them herself!
This locket held a photo of Kim’s late Mother. Kim mentioned she had seen a beautiful butterfly flying around the lodge for most of the weekend, and knew her mom was with her on this special weekend.
Special moments.
Thor’s momma joined in to help Kim get her dress on.
Thor spent the morning writing his vows, and the rest of the day rocking a fedora pretty dang well. =)
Pa (Thor’s grandpa), standing in the entrance of one of the 4 bathrooms that were all located inside a mega stone pillar. I wish I could accurately explain the coolness of this house we were staying at!
Thor Senior and his dudes (also known as “sons”.) Love this shot.
The timeline of K+T’s day called for a first look, because we actually ate dinner before the ceremony, with the goal of the ceremony being right at sunset. They were going to see each other anyways, so might as well do a first look! And an adorable one it was. Kim said “Ok, I’m ready!” and Thor turned around, and, um, check out that reaction!
Freakin’ adorable, right?
Group shots came next, followed by a delicious dinner. (P.S. Bridesmaids wearing turquoise and polkadots, can you say PERFECT!)
Catered by Red River Rockhouse, the chefs put together an amazing spread for us. Who knew kale salad could be absolutely delicious? And the crackers with Brie cheese and organic local honey drizzled on top? I’m drooling just thinking about it.
I’m closing Part 1 of K+T’s amazing wedding weekend with this sweet photo of Kim and Pa.
Come back SOON for Part 2! Including, but not limited to: trees, mountains, sunsets, portraits and lots of smiles.
