Nate has a very large extended family and every two years they pick one of their hometown’s to host a family reunion in. It was the first time I was a part of one of these epic get-togethers, and Nate’s uncle who lives near DC graciously hosted it. It was also my first time visiting this city, so we explored museums, saw a National’s baseball game, and even participated in National Dance Day! (for all you SYTYCD fans out there 🙂 )
The Capitol building was stunning. Inside and out. So much detail and gorgeous artwork everywhere. Even though I couldn’t hear the tour guide for most of the tour, I made up my own stories while taking lots of pictures. 🙂
Layers upon layers of detail! This was looking up the side of the dome.
We walked around Georgetown one afternoon, past cupcake shops, fro-yo stores, and outdoor sprinklers.
We eventually ended up near the Kennedy Center, at about the PERFECT time, because the National Dance Day party was about to start! I was so pumped to be there, even though I’m about the furthest thing from a dancer as a person can get. 🙂 But it was fun to learn the little routine and be part of a cool event!
Another part of our weekend included a Nationals game! I’m not a huge baseball fan, but the ballpark chicken fingers sure were delicious. 🙂 Perfect blue skies, right?
And then, right as the bottom of the 8th was about to begin… DOWNPOURS. Crazy times. We eventually left because the game was basically over and the Nat’s were winning anyways. Hooray!
And a few snaps from Sunday. Bowling, gorgeous flowers, and Nate’s birthday!
It was great to meet many of Nate’s extended family members (especially because the Michiganders brought Vernor’s, which is quickly becoming my favorite kind of soda!). And also, I really like DC! Yep, I’d visit again 🙂
And speaking of visiting… I’ll be driving down to Virginia for a wedding this weekend, so there’s more traveling in my future! Come back next week to see those pretty pics! ~S
[…] too cold all the way up there  So we picked DC! We had visited DC together once before during the summer of 2013, which was my first time there. I love it the first time, so I was super excited to have more […]
