… three of my very favorite things.
What happened in Boston yesterday hits way too close to home. Literally 13.1 miles away.
For the majority of the day I was cheering for all the incredible runners right at the halfway mark in Wellesley. Reminding people they were halfway there! Yay! And the runners who had written their names on the front of their shirts got a personal shout out. Most of them quickly smiled and some even said thank you. Those runners don’t even know how inspiring they are. As a girl who has run one half marathon and is currently training for a second (in downtown Boston, in a month) these people have my utmost respect. Even though I don’t know any of them personally, they feel like family. We’re all runners, from all across the world, and we all have one thing in common. It feels like whatever happened yesterday took a hit on my family.
We don’t have answers to why all this happened, but I know this. Boston needs Jesus. Boston needs prayer warriors. We need to be the one to pray for those affected. Those who were there, who will always have that memory in their head. Those runners who had trained so hard, but couldn’t finish their race. That Jesus will comfort and heal this city.
When the first pack of elite women ran by me, I’m not even kidding you, they took my breath away. How can I be so inspired and so heartbroken at the same time? It was such a bittersweet day.
“God guards you from every evil …
he guards you now, he guards you always.”
Psalm 121
Runners, wear your race shirts today. Go on a run. And remember to #prayforBoston.
