Exploring Florence!

Florence was a dream! Nate already knew that he liked this city (he took a trip there while studying abroad!), and he had a pretty good feeling that I would also enjoy it. There is no shortage of amazing architecture, art and pretty things to look at. Plus our first meal there (buffalo mozzarella pizza) is still one of most memorable of the whole trip and our Airbnb was also one of the best. The crowds got a little overwhelming near all the touristy spots, but you gotta expect that in a city with as much history and art cred as Florence. Stephanie Rita Photography in Florence Italy_0140
The two things I really wanted to do while in Florence were climb the Duomo and see the Uffizi Museum. Did we do either of those things? Nope. Both days, tickets were sold out by the time we got there… and we got there pretty early! So here’s a tip: buy tickets ahead of time and don’t be like us! 😉Stephanie Rita Photography in Florence Italy_0141
I’m happy to report that we still had a good time 🙂 One of my personal favorite memories was climbing the super steep steps up to the Palazzo Michelangelo and getting to see this amazing view of the whole city. We actually climbed it twice in one day, one time to see the view in the daylight and another to see the sunset! Couldn’t feel my quads the next day, but so worth it.Stephanie Rita Photography in Florence Italy_0135

Another favorite part of being in Florence was simply walking all through the skinny streets. Everything is cuter there. All the buildings are prettier. All the bikes are somehow always perched against gorgeous, textured walls. What I’m trying to say is everything is picture-and-painting-perfect all the time.Stephanie Rita Photography in Florence Italy_0132Stephanie Rita Photography in Florence Italy_0133
It was raining for both of the days we were there, and though a bit of a bummer, I actually thought it added to the charm and history of the city!

We also had a really nice dinner with most of his family who were still in town from his brother’s wedding (pictures from which I will be sharing so soon!) Oh also, tomato and mozzarella focaccia sandwiches are the best type of lunch you could buy. Oh also, all the food is worth it.

[…] and I took an epic trip to Italy – Cinque Terre, Florence & Sorrento were my fave cities. Wait. Pasta, gelato, seafood, wine were the true winners […]

Beautiful Steph. I love all the architecture.
